Traditional wound acoustic strings are based on a hex -shaped core wire with a single wrap of metal. For the Silk&Steel, we start with a round core wire and wrap it first with a soft material. We then wrap the modified core with the silver-plated copper (silk & steel) or 92/8 phosphor bronze (Silk & Phosphor). This process provides a subtle softness to the tone and creates a pleasant-feeling string under the finger.
